[OFFICIAL STATEMENT] Taipei Grand Mosque Foundation: Statement & Demands
A.Four Key Contradictions
1. Ownership Discrepancy:
The Taipei Grand Mosque was built in 1960, years before the Chinese Muslim Association Foundation was established in 1969.
Taipei Grand Mosque Foundation is the continuation of the institutional corporatization initiated by the Board of Directors of the Taipei Grand Mosque in 2005, and serves as the actual manager and maintainer of the premises.
CMA exploited legal loopholes to claim ownership without ever providing proof of funding or contracts.
2. Unequal Responsibility:
For decades, TGM Foundation has fully funded site preservation, utilities, and community operations.
CMA foundation contributed nothing, yet now demands back rent and interest.
3. Seizure of Micro-Donations:
Through court enforcement, CMA foundation froze nearly NT$10M in TGM accounts (NT$2.83M seized, NT$6.5M frozen).
These funds consist of small donations from local Muslims and foreign workers. Seizing these funds and suing for interest directly violates Islamic principles.
4. Operational Paralysis:
CMA claims the Mosque "remains open." However, freezing operating funds renders the Mosque unable to pay for utilities, maintenance, or religious programs, leaving it a functional shell unable to serve the community.
B. Three Demands
1. Provide Proof: Publicly release legal proof showing how the Mosque was registered under the CMA's name.
2. Halt Enforcement & Refund: Stop all legal proceedings immediately and return all frozen donations.
3. Engage Openly: CMA leadership, including Mr. Chang Ming-Chun and Mr. Ma Chao-Yen, must stop evading the issue and face the Muslim community in open dialogue.
